Today was the day in which the IRS assured us they would definitely, probably, more than likely, perhaps,it was just an arbitrary date thrown out there to keep you from assuming we didn’t have a clue, have resolution to our burning 2010 refund question-would we actually receive it?
You know, of course, that they haven’t gotten to us yet. Our esteemed worker-who we know by name only having talked to many other workers who are payed to keep us from cussing in frustration when they tell us absolutely nothing in one hundred thousand words or more, tells us they are up to June. Just because we filed on Feb.4,spoke to the advocate for the first time in late March doesn’t mean out many copies of the same forms and letters of explanation and sacrificial chicken were received by the correct department until July 27. My guess is once we make it to the front of the Que,every single copy of every single piece of paper we have faxed, mailed return receipt and the chicken will be lost. Again. Which will put us back to the back of the line and cause the sacrificial death of yet another chicken-or perhaps a larger barn yard animal (perhaps an unblemished lamb), before we can proceed again.(Have you ever tried to fax a sacrificial chicken? It isn’t easy and the people at Kinkos become very upset.)
I might as well get philosophical about it. It is not like we could really, really use the money or anything. I wonder what the friendly people at Internal Revenue Service would say if I told them they were at the back of the que and I would pay them when I got to them-but first you must send me the same forms etc several times at your own expense before I place you in the que to begin with.
That would more than likely not go over very well.
Oh well, I suppose I had better locate another chicken.
