birthday boy

My middle son turns nineteen today. Where does the time go. He came to us nine years old with a written history of a juvenile offender. He was on adult doses of anti-psychotics and was level four in a five level system. On paper he was a mess. It was more than likely his history that resulted in three other families declining to adopt he and his siblings.
In reality he has been one of my easiest children to raise. He came home and took a nice deep breath-and relaxed. He was the first to attach, the first to accept Christ, the first to learn to read. He was also one of the most stubborn children we have raised. This is in a family known for being stubborn.
My son has a fantastically dry wit. Works hard (once you get him moving) and is kind. When he sets his mind to something he does well.
He has added a tremendous amount of joy to our family. He is well liked by his peers. He is a steadying presence in a crisis.
Happy Birthday, son. You are well loved.
